Skin Care Products Essential - Facial Scrub

Basic skin care products include soap or a facial wash for cleansing, toner to condition the skin to have the right pH level in order for it to take other skincare products, and of course, a moisturizer to rehydrate the skin and protect it from dryness. However, depending on your other skin care needs, there may be some other skincare products one has to add on to his or her skin care regimen. These “maintenance products” target specific skin problems or prevent them from even happening. Such include the likes of an eye gel to prevent eye bags and dark circles, blemish remover to even out skin tone and lighten age spots, wrinkle cream to reduce and prevent fine lines, facial mask to nourish the skin leaving it soft and supple, and facial scrub to exfoliate.

Skin Care Products - The Benefits of Facial Scrubs

Facial scrubs, as long as they are done right, are very good for the skin. They exfoliate, meaning they remove dead skin cells, which cause dry, flaky skin, allowing younger skin cells to resurface. Different skin types however have different frequency requirements for facial scrubs. For normal skin, exfoliating once or twice a week is recommended. For oily skin, twice or thrice a week is ideal, while for dry skin, once a week is enough and should be done gently and not too long. As they always say, too much of anything is bad – even of good things. Avoid using facial scrubs more than the recommended frequency for your skin type or it will worsen your skin condition. Meaning, dry skin will become dryer, while oily skin will become oilier.

Now here are a couple of easy-to-make homemade beauty recipes for facial scrubs. Try them and see the difference.

  • Moisten your face and apply 2 tablespoons of sea salt. Gently massage your face either with your fingers or with a damp washcloth. Avoid the eye area and focus on the T-zone, as well as your cheeks. After a couple of minutes, rinse with cold water. This will close and tighten your skin pores. For best results, do this regularly but only once a week.

  • Mix together 2 heaped teaspoons of fine oatmeal and a teaspoon of baking soda. Add enough water to make a paste-like mixture. Apply onto skin and massage gently before rinsing.
