Although consumers would rave about one facial cleanser or another, this is not an indication that the cleanser is also the right one for you. Choose a facial cleanser that is water soluble, that is, one that easily washes off and doesn't leave a greasy feeling on the skin. Cleansers that don't easily wash off may clog the pores. A cleanser should also not taste bad, burn the eyes, or irritate the skin. Using the cleanser must leave your face feeling clean with minimal break outs, and there should be no need for scrubbing to remove makeup, including those around the eyes.

Avoid using cleansers that contain Beta or Alpha Hydroxy acids, as well as topical disinfectants, such as triclosan or benzoyl peroxide. These ingredient are deemed useless, as they are washed off even before they get to start working on your facial skin.

Do not fall for products labeled as "Dermatologist Tested or "Dermatologist Approved", as these really don't mean anything. Also, don't get easily blinded by advertisement with all sorts of promises. In the end, it's really best to find out for yourself what's good for your skin.
