Homemade Moisturizing Lotion Recipe
3 cups water
3 teaspoons borax
3⁄4 cup oil
6 teaspoons beeswax
45 drops fragrance or essential oil
Heat water to 170 degrees , add borax, stir, and hold at 170 degrees for 20 min. Heat oil and beeswax to 170 degrees.
Slowly drizzle water into oil mixture and beat with a hand beater or stick blender until an emulsion forms. As lotion cools, stir occasionally to prevent separation. Add fragrance or essential oil and stir. When the moisturizing lotion is cool, store in refrigerator, as there is no preservative.
Butter Moisturizing Lotion Recipe
1 oz. pure cocoa butter
3 oz. oil
1 tsp. arrowroot powder
Heat cocoa butter in glass dish just until melted. Add oil. Beat intermittently until butter cools (may need to place dish in a container of ice to speed things along). Add arrowroot powder (helps to take greasiness out), beat again until fluffy.
