Oil Free Moisturizer for People with Oily Skin

Oil free moisturizer and greaseless hand lotion products are best for people with oily skin. Come to think of it, it IS sort of pointless for people with oily skin to use items with oil as these will only make the skin oilier.

Oil Free Moisturizer - Be Greasy No More

There are basically two types of moisturizers, the occlusives and the humectants. Occlusives contain oil or silicone that is deposited on the outermost layer of the skin to prevent moisture from evaporating. Humectants, on the other hand, are oil free and are absorbed the outermost layer of the skin for water retention.

Dry skin types benefit the most from occlusives, while humectants, particularly glycerin-based humectants, are good for those with oily skin. These humectants can protect the skin and keep it hydrated minus the grease. Humectants include oil free lotions, eye gels and after shave gels that have been tested to prevent zits.

Be careful, though, when buying skin care products that claim to be oil free. If the emulsion is oil in water then the supposed oil-free moisturizer can still contain oil. Do your research on what the proper ingredients should be, and look closely at the label whenever you buy oil free moisturizers or other oil free products.

For the combination skin type, you can use a low alcohol astringent product followed by an oil free lotion. You're lucky if you have normal skin type, as you can use any type of moisturizer.

Don't be rash in your choice of moisturizers. Not all moisturizers will benefit you, if the ones you choose are not appropriate for your skin type. Determine what skin type you have the do some research on what type of moisturizer or skin care product is best for you. Use this information in deciding what skin care products to use.
