Moisturizer - Tips on Moisturizing

What's a moisturizer? Do I really need one? Where can I find hydra ⁄ long lasting moisturizer info?

First of all, moisturizers are cosmetic creams that are used on the skin, especially the face, to makes it moist. Yes, we all need to moisturize our skin, especially our face and neck as this is where signs of aging first occur. Moisturizing replaces the skin's lost moisture when washing.

A large number of people spend a lot of money on moisturizers. Some moisturizers only leave an oily film on the skin and is not absorbed at all where it can do some good. However there are moisturizers that are truly absorbed in the skin making it feel more supple and younger-looking.

What should I look for in hydra long-lasting moisturizers

Well, for starters, good hydra long-lasting moisturizers contain any or a combination of the following ingredients:

  • Olive oil: contains a very high level of antioxidants, particularly vitamin E, and is considered excellent for healing and moisturizing of the skin.

  • Castor oil: contains ricinoleic acid, which is effective in preventing the growth of several viruses, bacteria, yeasts and mold. It acts as the skin's protective moisturizing medium.

  • Shea butter: comes from the white fat obtained from the seeds of the shea tree. It contains moisturizing agents like vitamins A, E, and F, and helps make the skin moist, clear and healthy. Shea butter is a particularly good moisturizing agent for sun-damaged skin.

  • Aloe vera: it contains softening, moisturizing properties and is soothing to the skin.

  • Chamomile: reduces inflammation and contains anti-bacterial properties.

  • Beeswax: made from the nectar of flowers, it acts as a hydrating agent that retains skin's natural moisture.

  • Vitamin E (tocopherol): a strong antioxidant that helps in skin repair.

A note about essential oils: these moisturizing agents are very powerful and are readily absorbed into the body through the skin. So be careful especially if you're pregnant. Consult your doctor first.
