Organic cosmetics are making a comeback. Many women would do almost anything to look beautiful. After all, vanity is as old as time and in an industry that rakes in millions of dollars each month, beauty means everything. The development of beauty products has enjoyed thousands of transformations, and as time passes by and technology sets in, makeup manufacturers have adopted artificial components into their product to make it more affordable to the mass consumer. However, in the past few years, organic beauty products are making a comeback, and despite being more expensive, these beauty products are “in”, and here to stay.

Organic Cosmetics are Perceived as “Healthy”

More focus is being given on the environment, on maintaining a healthy lifestyle, in keeping fit. These are good signs that the broad-based market is willing to make radical changes in the way he⁄she eats, engages in physical activity, even down to the cosmetics they use. Buzz words like “organic” and “natural” are plastered on many product labels, as a variation of the original products, and some stores even have an aisle dedicated to it, or whole stores for that matter. When it comes to makeup, organic equals healthy. After all, if what you eat is good for you, doesn't it follow that what you put on your skin does the same?

But consumers beware! Not just because a makeup product is labeled with “organic” that it means it's actually good for you. One way of knowing if a product contains more natural ingredients than artificial, is by checking the ingredients label. The first 2 or 3 ingredients usually have the higher content or percentage in the product. If they list natural ingredients first, chances are the product contains more natural ingredients. However, the ultimate test is the way it affects your skin. This means actually buying the cosmetic product, which you may not be prepared to do. So take advantage of free samples and free makeup sessions; they're a bit undignified but better than nothing.
