Makeup and beauty products are synonymous to a "natural high" most women get each time they try on a new beauty product. It's no wonder why Russian beauty products are enjoying the same peak of success – in terms of sales, that is.

A recent study done by the Staraya Krepost Association (a united association of Russian cosmetic manufacturers) says that the cosmetics industry is one of the fastest-growing sectors in Russia today.

Russia's beauty products took a 20% increase over the past several years over the average growth of Western Europe of only 2%. This just shows that Russian girls love their makeup, estimated to be worth a $4 billion industry.

Makeup and Beauty Products aren't Just for Looks

The popularity of beauty products for Russian women has been growing steadily throughout the years.

While majority of purchases account for the way the cosmetics affect looks, the beauty products are also being purchased because of the other non- narcissistic benefits they provide such as being a deterrent to the increasing environmental pollution and a sun screen against cancer-causing rays.

Due to the extreme popularity of Russian beauty cosmetics, especially among women in their teens, early 20's to late 40's, there also has been an expected growth in the number of professional salons and spas across the country that use these products.

Studies show that 10% of Russian women use beauty salons, but purchases of beauty products have shown an increase of 40% (from COMCON research agency).

While beauty salons are luxuries only the rich can afford, that doesn't stop the middle and mass-based market into purchasing affordable beauty products on their own.

Whether it's the elite or the working class Russian beauty cosmetics manufacturers cater to, beauty is highly in demand and they don't have to worry about the foreign players just yet.
