Solid Hand Lotion
Aside from being handy, a solid hand lotion can also serve as perfect gifts for friends, teachers or hostesses. Also known as lotion bars, this type of hand lotion lasts from six to nine months or more and does not dry out.
Although a lotion bar is quite inexpensive, you can easily make your own lotion bar. Not only do you get to personalize your gift and ensure that natural ingredients are used, you also get to have fun while making one.
Solid Hand Lotion - Basic Recipe
The main ingredients for your lotion bar are the following: 1 ounce shea butter; 1 ounce beeswax;1 ounce coconut oil; and your preferred essential or fragrance oil. You can also use other oils in place of shea butter and coconut oil.
A favorite lotion bar ingredient you can use as a substitute is cocoa butter. You can experiment on different ingredients to see what works for you.
For this purpose, a double boiler is best for melting the ingredients. After preparing your double boiler, measure the ingredients for your lotion bar.
Next, melt the different ingredients. Pour the melted lotion bar ingredients into molds. You can use deodorant containers, Dixie cup containers or individual soap molds. Whatever you choose to use for the molds, just be sure they can contain hot liquids.
Be creative in the molds you use and in packaging your lotion bar, especially if the lotion bar is to be given as a gift or to be sold. Be sure though, that you conform to FDA requirements if these are to be for sale.
With the convenience and skin care benefits that come with using a lotion bar, giving one as a gift will surely be appreciated.
