Petroleum Free Moisturizer - Save your Skin from Greasy Moisturizers

Many of us believe that the answer to dry, rough and itchy skin is moisturizers made from an oil base, such as petroleum jelly. They do the trick of nourishing parched skin but don't you just hate the greasy residue? Good thing there are products like a petroleum free moisturizer that aid in moisturizing the skin without the oily touch.

Petroleum Free Moisturizer - Find the Right One for You

The best moisturizer is usually the simplest one – clear or plain white without scent is usually a gauge. A good moisturizer should also be easily absorbed by the skin and shouldn't sting when applied.

People with oily skin need moisturizing as well. Products that contain plenty of waxes and oils contribute greatly to pore clogging, much to the dismay of people with active sebaceous glands.

This is the reason why petroleum-free moisturizer products were primarily developed. This skin type should avoid products whose ingredients end in “ethyl, propyl and ene” (to name a few). These contain petroleum and while they're cheap, they can give you long-term skin problems in the long run.

Spend a little more on the right kind of moisturizer. Those containing hyaluronic acid or HA are a good source of natural moisture. Check the label and look for terms like “oil-free” or “humectants”. A good moisturizer shouldn't be too wet or too thick, nor should it leave an oily residue.

Use lotion and cream testers in drugstores or department shops. Rub a little on a patch of skin on your inner wrist and do some shopping first. After 30 minutes, feel the area. If it feels right, then you can be sure you've found the right product.
